If you want a job done right, hire a veteran. That’s what we did when we hired David Young, now a key member of our team.
David was another of our mid-career acquisitions – we nabbed him after he’d already put in 20+ years in a technology field. In his pre-Lone Star life, David also owned a lawn sprinkler business, and he quips, “I wouldn’t recommend it!”
He says he came to Lone Star Chemical for the same reason most of our customers do: for the people.
“I have known Kip for over 15 years,” David says. “People matter to me. My customers can count on me to communicate with them and be honest. They quickly find out that my goal is not a quick sale but a long term partnership.
“I work beyond the basic sales process to understand my customer’s business and provide value. I have a competitive price and I answer the phone when you call. Good communication with my customers prevents issues.”
David served in the U.S. Army and was a forward observer for the artillery in Operation Desert Storm. (“Yes, I’m old,” he says). He is also an Eagle Scout. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Angelo State University (“Go Rams!”)
He and his wife Amy have been married for 27 years.
“I’m still crazy about her,” he says. “Our daughter Emily graduated from Texas A&M and works at Parkland Hospital. Our son Jack attends the University of Texas at Dallas. I enjoy podcasts, watching auto racing, fixing things, and working with the Boy Scouts.”
